Description

We are representing an international banking group with a strong European presence and a well-established governance and control framework. The environment is professional, collaborative and offers visibility at senior level. The AFC function operates with clear standards and supports the organisation in ensuring regulatory compliance and effective financial crime risk management across several entities.

The AFC Governance & Strategy Manager (m/f/d) plays a central role in shaping and maintaining the firm’s Financial Crime Compliance framework across its European business activities. The position focuses on strategic planning, governance structures, policy oversight, project coordination and management reporting to ensure a consistent, risk-based, and regulatory-aligned AFC operating model.

This role is well-suited for individuals who are able to operate independently, communicate confidently, and bring a structured approach to governance and policy work.

Your tasks

  • process improvements in collaboration with key stakeholders.

  • Support the development of the AFC strategy, annual planning cycles, and senior management reporting, including the preparation of committee materials and consolidated AFC reports.

  • Ensure a consistent and coherent AFC policy framework across all entities and business areas.

  • Design, maintain and integrate KPIs, KRIs and dashboard reporting to support management oversight and regulatory alignment.

  • Coordinate internal and external audit activities, monitor the implementation of remediation actions and maintain structured oversight documentation.

  • Oversee AFC-related outsourcing arrangements and service levels, assess associated risks, maintain service inventories and track performance indicators.

AFC Strategy & Governance Reporting

  • Support the development, enhancement, and execution of the annual AFC strategy and planning cycle.
    Prepare reports, committee materials, and management updates to ensure transparent and informed decision-making.
  • Consolidate AFC reporting inputs from business units, branches, and affiliated entities.
    Create and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and management information to monitor AFC performance, risk drivers, and emerging trends.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit processes and monitor the remediation of findings.
    Promote continuous improvement and governance alignment across the AFC organization.

Policy Framework Oversight & Alignment

  • Maintain and further develop the AFC policy and standards framework.
    Ensure consistency of policies, procedures, and guidelines across legal entities and business lines.
  • Oversee policy lifecycle management and stakeholder communication.

Project Steering & Operational Excellence

  • Provide operational leadership for AFC-related initiatives and enhancement projects.
  • Define governance structures, track project progress and ensure timely delivery of key deliverables.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies, propose improvements, and coordinate implementation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely escalation and structured resolution of key issues.

Performance Metrics & Management Information

  • Develop, enhance, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) relevant to AFC effectiveness and oversight.
  • Design and maintain reporting dashboards for senior leadership meetings and governance forums.
  • Ensure data quality, alignment and transparency across reporting channels.

Outsourcing Governance & Third-Party Risk Control

  • Maintain and monitor AFC-relevant service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Manage inventories of outsourced services and third-party engagements relevant to AFC.
  • Identify and assess risks arising from outsourcing and intercompany services.
  • Define KPIs and reporting mechanisms to evaluate service performance and regulatory adherence.

Your profile

  • Several years of experience in Anti-Financial Crime, AML Compliance, Audit or Risk in a financial institution

  • Strong knowledge of AFC risk assessments and governance frameworks

  • Ability to interpret regulatory expectations and translate them into practical controls

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and present to senior leadership

  • Analytical, structured and proactive working style

  • Language Proficiency in English; German is beneficial
