On behalf of an international corporate and investment bank, Hirschman Associates is seeking a Compliance Advisory Specialist to join its Frankfurt-based team.

This business-facing role combines dedicated coverage of banking and capital markets activities with the ongoing development of the bank’s conduct compliance framework. You will work closely with business stakeholders and international compliance colleagues, providing practical advice on regulatory requirements and supporting effective oversight.

Your tasks

• Act as a trusted compliance contact for corporate banking, capital markets, project finance, equities and fixed income sales and trading, and treasury activities.
• Advise business stakeholders on conduct compliance, governance and securities regulation, including MiFID II and MAR requirements.
• Support the development of compliance policies and procedures in close coordination with international stakeholders.
• Deliver compliance training and front-office communications, including regulatory updates, policy announcements and new-joiner training.
• Represent Compliance in discussions with senior business management and relevant governance committees, including matters relating to best execution and algorithmic trading.
• Assess regulatory developments at European and national level and support their implementation across relevant European operations.
• Perform compliance monitoring and control checks, identify potential gaps and recommend improvements.
• Provide compliance advice on new business activities, strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects.
• Support regulatory communications, internal and external audits, and the preparation of management reports.
• Maintain effective working relationships across business, compliance and support functions within an international organisation.

Your profile

• Several years of relevant experience in compliance advisory or conduct compliance within a financial institution, or comparable experience in a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of European banking and investment firm regulation, particularly capital markets requirements such as MiFID II, MAR, EMIR and SFTR.
• An understanding of corporate and investment banking activities and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business guidance.
• Familiarity with relevant national regulatory requirements in one or more European markets.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with confidence in engaging with stakeholders in a dynamic international environment.
• A university degree, preferably in law, business management or economics.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; German or another relevant European language, would be an advantage.
• An additional compliance qualification would be welcome.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bloomberg or regulatory reporting platforms would be an advantage.
• A collaborative, proactive approach and willingness to travel to other European offices when required.
