Our client is an internationally active financial institution with a well-established presence in the European banking market.

To strengthen the Finance division, we are currently seeking an experienced Head of Accounting (m/f/d) to lead and further develop the bank’s accounting function in Germany.

This is a key leadership role within the organization, offering broad exposure across Finance, Regulatory Reporting, Treasury, Risk, and senior management.

Your tasks

• Lead and manage the Accounting function of the bank
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Oversee bank-specific accounting processes in accordance with HGB, IFRS, and regulatory requirements
• Ensure compliance with banking and financial reporting standards
• Manage and further develop accounting policies, controls, and internal processes
• Act as a key contact person for auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders
• Collaborate closely with Regulatory Reporting, Treasury, Tax, Risk, and Compliance teams
• Support finance transformation, optimization, and automation initiatives
• Monitor regulatory developments impacting accounting and financial reporting
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounting team

Your profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
• Several years of experience within Accounting or Finance functions in the banking or financial services sector
• Strong expertise in bank accounting, banking balance sheet structures, and financial statements
• Sound knowledge of HGB and ideally IFRS
• Experience managing audits and working with regulatory authorities
• Leadership experience within regulated financial institutions
• Structured, hands-on, and solution-oriented working style
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Fluent German and English language skills are required
