Our client is an established international financial institution with a strong global presence, offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Audit professional to join its Internal Audit function in Frankfurt.

This role provides the opportunity to take ownership of IT audit activities across a complex and highly regulated banking environment. You will evaluate technology risks, assess internal controls, and contribute to strengthening governance, operational resilience, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with senior stakeholders across technology and business functions, you will help ensure that IT processes, systems, and controls remain effective while supporting the organization's continued digital transformation.

Your tasks

• Plan, lead, and execute risk-based IT audits across various technology and operational areas
• Assess the effectiveness of IT General Controls (ITGCs), governance frameworks, and risk management processes
• Evaluate IT infrastructure, information security, cloud environments, outsourced services, and emerging technologies, including AI-related solutions
• Perform risk assessments, control testing (Test of Design & Test of Effectiveness), and identify opportunities for process improvements
• Review documentation, system architectures, operational processes, and data to evaluate compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports with clear, practical recommendations and present findings to senior management
• Monitor the implementation of agreed remediation measures and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Contribute to the development of the annual audit plan and the continuous enhancement of audit methodologies
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strengthen governance, operational resilience, and control environments

Your profile

• Several years of experience in Internal IT Audit, IT Risk, or Technology Assurance within the banking or financial services sector
• Proven track record in planning and executing IT audits in highly regulated environments
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, and third-party risk management
• Experience with data-driven audit methodologies, including SQL and data analytics tools
• Good knowledge of European banking regulations and IT governance frameworks, including DORA, EBA Guidelines, MaRisk, BAIT, and operational resilience requirements
• Familiarity with banking systems, regulatory expectations, and technology risk management
• Professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, CISSP, CRISC, CFA, FRM, or similar qualifications are considered an advantage
• University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Informatics, or a related discipline
• Excellent knowledge of IT audit standards, governance frameworks, and internal control systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to evaluate complex IT environments
• High level of integrity, independence, and professional judgement
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong project management and organisational skills
• Ability to translate technical findings into clear business recommendations
• Curious, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and professional development
• Fluency in English and good German language skills are essential
